The starters were delightful, I recommend the mushroom toast which combined two of my favourite things and was a perfect amount of velvety richness. For a main course I chose the vegetable tangine with couscous. It was OK but I like things a bit spicier, the portions were very generous though. Kitsch Kat had the house fish and chips which went down a treat. Kat was driving so just ordered a soft drink but I had an extremely nice glass of Pinot Grigio Rose. The service was prompt and friendly up until we'd finished the two courses on the voucher. We would have happily ordered some more drinks or a desert but no-one came by with a menu or a receipt for the bill. We just chatted away contentedly for the evening although it would have been nice to be asked if we'd like some coffee or something. Different places have different policies on this kind of thing. It wasn't incredibly busy being a Monday night and perhaps because we had a voucher they figured we were good, and to be fair we could have called them over. I would go there again as it is extremely cosy and the views of the Kelvingrove at night are beautiful.
Friday was Galentine's Boxing Day or Valentine's Day as it is more commonly known. Rockin' Roy had the night off so we had some nice plans which fell apart due to both of us being ill with different things. We were going to go to the Green Chilli Cafe and check out the Jack Vettirano exhibition at the Kelvingrove which had late night opening but sadly as we were both sick we had to cancel. Instead we stayed home and got a couple of the famous and magnificent Buddy's burgers and watched episode 1 of season 5 of Fringe. We've been waiting ages to get some time together to finish the show so it was a pretty romantic evening. Now just to find time for the remaining episodes...
In other news my office has opened a free to use gym in the basement which is great for me because I was about to join one nearby. It's saved me some precious pennies and means I can go on my lunch hour. It's pretty basic, just a few treadmills, bikes and ellipticals but it's free! This is a good thing, not only because it makes my day go faster and I badly need to get fitter, but also because lately my entire Pinterest feed is pictures of food. I follow a lot of different feeds (ha!) mostly non food related, so I can only assume there is some kind of luxuriant breakfast Pinning trend happening.
Film chat - This month sees the return of the Glasgow Film Festival (20 February - 2 March) and next month the Southside Festival Film will be showing Good Vibrations ahead of the festival in May. Just a few weeks to go until Allnighthorromadness!
Additionally my sister Eleanor DC will have an exhibition at the GFT of her photography next week - more about that in the next Racy blog.
