Bo Ningen are a psychedelic acid punk band from Japan (formed in London).
I've been to a lot (and I really do mean a lot) of gigs over the years (less recently, but a strong record overall) and this was one of the most frenetic performances I've ever seen. In a year that's included Turbowolf, Death From Above 1979 and Sleater Kinney (and of course Little Hands of Silver*) that's no mean feat.
Bo Ningen are proper wild. They're telling you about life and mind expansion and you are believing every word, even if you don't speak Japanese. The songs are varied, but all awesome.
At one point I realised a song had been going on for, like, ten minutes? I don't know, I didn't care, I was COMPLETELY in to it. Their songs might keep a riff going for half an hour, but they change up other parts and keep it fresh as they go.
I was shambling husk the next day at work because although I abstained from alcohol at the gig, I am a haggard old wizard now when it comes to doing anything remotely tiring on a Sunday night such as dancing to Japanese psychedelic acid punk. What have I become, eh? FFSake.
*Little Hands of Silver - these boys are too unfit to go full Philly Phanatic or Green Man. I say this because I know them, and love them. And it's true. Time to get training for the EP launch boyos! We all want to see taps aff lads! ;) xxxx
