One of the big attractions to the whole vintage and retro lifestyle
is the eco friendly aspect - re-using old clothes and generally old stuff! Vintage enthusiasts tend to take very good care of their things. Some folks find it necessary to stick exclusively to genuinely old things, found objects and second hand objects and clothing and will do their best to avoid buying anything new. Others will use the styles of the past and buy new things, or a
mix of both. I like a mix of both. It's fantastic to find real retro pieces but it's hit and miss on sizes, quality and price. It also requires quite a bit of time and effort to source pieces - that's great if you can but there's nothing wrong with new stuff! Try to buy quality items and take care of them so you can pass them on future generations but also help the economy. It also depends on your lifestyle. I admire the women I know who are ALWAYS in vintage mode, they look amazing! I just can't keep it up so save the full look for special occasions and dress with a hint or twist of old style. A lot of people like to stick to one time period too if they have a favourite, I like to mix it up, time travel my fashions.
Either way so long as you're living responsibly, are comfortable and having a good time, you can't go wrong.
I had a fantastic time at the Glasgow Mela Festival over the weekend and have posted photos to my facebook, Saturday and Sunday. Hugely flattered that one of the dance groups, Punjabi No.1, asked to use some of my photos for their site.
The weather was abysmal but there was still a good turnout despite the monsoon weather and mudslides. The performances were amazing! Here are a couple of shots from the day check out the rest on my facebook page.
