Rockin' Roy and I are almost 2 years married (our actual anniversary is tomorrow but we'll be on a day long trek to Swizterland) and 12 years as a couple/pretend crime fighting duo. To mark this occasion we went for dinner at Glasgow's own Russian eatery, Cafe Cossachok.
I have wanted to go there for years! I bought an Itison voucher a few months ago which gave us the opportunity to try a starter and main course each from a preset menu with some vodka shots as palate cleansers - more about the drinks later...
The Russian restaurant is beautiful and opulent inside with a red theme and decorative fabrics and paintings.
The staff at Cafe Cossachok were very helpful and offered to make something off menu because one of their veggie options wasn't available. We were in a bit early so had the place to ourselves but even when more people showed up the service was very attentive.
The vodka shots between courses is something I am a fan of and have enjoyed a similar style of dining in Poland. I also had a long island ice tea…and a Russian coffee to finish which is like an espresso but with honey and vodka. Sneaky hangover the next day...
All delicious. I preferred the Borscht - would be perfect for a winters day - but my main course of pancakes was divine. Would definitely recommend return, hoping I can go back for my birthday next year.
We weren't allowed to take photos of the show but here is one of the stage during the interval.
